Using HDR right

When you use HDR photo technic, try to be gentle....

As I am getting better with HDR photography I try to make it look just right not too much.. Have a look at my real estate photo gallery, can you tell which one are HDR and which one are not?

Why using HDR photos

Why using HDR photos.

HDR ( high dynamic range) photos can be very useful. In the mind of many photographer HDR images look like cartoons, but for real estate and interior design photography it is starting to be a must, a standard. WHY?

The use of HDR allows you to balance the light between outside (very bright) and inside (much darker). I can explain but instead have a look at these pictures.

If you want to expose for the right light for outside ( look at the window) it looks like this:

You want to expose for the right light for inside ( look at the very end of the room) it look like this

You want to have a certain balance in between the 2, it will look like this, this is acceptable.
But look at the window and the end of the room

Why not combining all 3 in an HDR image that will look like this.
Now look at the window, the end of the room, the colors!

Note that you can put more that 3 images I used 5 for this one:

Directing a video clip is a complex task.

Great results come with meticulous planning!

In order to achieve great results every company must plan, the better you plan the better the results. yes it this that simple!

Just a few weeks back I experienced how bad planning can effect the end results. When the planning is poorly done you have to work twice as must to get half the results!.

Directing a video clip is a complex task.
My first experience taught me a lot! You want to realize a video clip? so better plan, plan, plan. Plan each of the sequences, plan the time of day for the right light, plan the location , the permit, plan the rental, plan the equipment, plan your resources.

When I made this video (my first video) we had a director that was so sure of himself, we followed him... Unfortunately he did not plan! First we were over 2 hour late starting the video this changed the lighting effect that was "plan", than we were forced to move out of the location because, we did not have a permit the film at this location. When we finally found another place to shoot it was 3 hours later again the light was different... Next the editor that was selected by the director could not do the editing "he did not plan to do it at this time" because the director did not plan it accordingly... I had to do the editing (my fist time editing).

Through this I have learned a lot! The most important lesson is plan plan plan... Always have aplan and a plan "B" and a plan "C" and just hope you will not have to use them.

When you want to create a consistent corporate image it is so much simpler if you plan...contact resources to help you

Making video with the Canon 5D mark II

Making video with the Canon 5D mark II

As a photographer, I am fascinated by images. When I first purchase my 5D MkII the video capabilities were to me just a useless feature until.... I tried it! So I met this band that needed some picture and the design for their first album cover ( see here).

It is simply amazing to use this camera as a video machine... Once I had finished taking the clip I had to edit the video I am very new at this so I needed some tips.
Thanks to Richard Allen Crook for his blog. Have a look at this link, all you need to know about video with the 5D Mk2
